Today we will be finishing off the Ohm's Law assignment.  Make sure you have included photos of each of the circuits that you made yesterday from the Science folder, as well as writing out the Ohm's Law triangle.You also need to answer the four questions repeated below:

1.If the voltage is 3 volts and the current is 5 amps, what is the resistance?

2.If there are 5 volts travelling through a lamp with a resistance of 1.5 ohms, calculate the current:

3.An ammeter reads .87 in a circuit with a resistance of 8 ohms. What is the voltage in the battery?

4. Define current, voltage and resistance.

Once you're finished, hand it to me so I can mark it! You can then continue to work on your practical experiment write ups.

 

Methods for both experiments

Today we want to make sure that we have both methods completed, if you've already done that make sure that you've completed all other sections as well.

Vitamin C with iodine:

1.Measure out 3 ml of the drink.  Record the name in your table. Add 3 drops of starch to the drink.

2.Carefully use a pipette to add iodine, recording how much you need to make the juice blue.

3.Clean your glassware and repeat with another juice.

 

Benedict's solution: 

       1.Carefully measure out 2ml of a sugar solution into a test tube. Add 0.5ml of Benedict’s to make the solution blue.

      2.Place the tube in the water bath, waiting a couple of minutes until it has changed colour.

           3.Record the colour in your table, then repeat with another sugar solution.

Assignment write-up

Today we will be weriting up the experiments that we've carried out. Use the following headings to help you -

1. Hypothesis - This is where you make a statement that was tested in your experiment, for example 'The Vitamin C content of different Orange drinks was the same/different'.
2. Materials and Method - This is where you list the equipment you used and the steps you took to carry out your experiment. It should be detailed enough that anyone else could repeat your experiment.
3. Results - Include a table of results, and describe what your results showed.
4. Discussion - Answer the following questiosn in your discussion:

• Are you confident in your results or not? Why?
• What could you have done to improve your tests?
• Do your results agree or disagree with other similar experiments?

5. Conclusion - Referring to your hypothesis, say whether your results support or disagree with your hypothesis. Explain the general trends in your results.
